Our church is working together with the Peruvian community in Northwest Arkansas to raise funds to help the victims of the earthquake that devastated Peru, on August 15 killing more than 500 people and leaving thousands homeless.

The major event in this fundraising campaign was a Gala Dinner that took place at the Embassy Suites, in Rogers, September 7. Many people attended this dinner and others contributed through donations as well. The Insurance Company of the Lutheran Church, “Thrivent” also joined in the efforts to help in this tragedy making a generous donation. Mari Cisneros and Jorge Melgar, members of our church and leaders of the Peruvian Association told us that we had raised about 10 thousand dollars. The money will be sent to aid invested in Peru through Lutheran World Relief.
